206.00 TRAINING / TRAVEL REQUESTS I. Scope
This standard outlines the process that must be followed when a member wishes to be compensated for attending a seminar or training session that isn't being hosted or sponsored by the department. It was promulgated to enable members to attend training classes and seminars conducted by outside agencies and organizations. II. Procedure A. If a member wishes to obtain approval to travel on behalf of the department or to attend a training class or seminar, the member must complete a Request for Training Form prior to the date of the class or seminar and submit the completed form to the Training Division. B. If the request is from a member assigned to shift work, the Training Officer will consult with the shift officer about the impact the request would have on minimum staffing. C. If the request from a member assigned to a shift is approved by the Fire Chief and Training Officer, the shift officer shall be notified and the necessary slots shall be reserved on the Kelly day list. D. If a request is disapproved, the reason for disapproval will be recorded on the form and return the request to the member who submitted the request. E. As a general rule, Budget constraints and the value of the class to the department shall be considered for all requests. References; Request / for Training Form Appendix-B-4 |
